Note that Sat Nav often takes you to the parallel lane on the other side of the hill, so make sure you look out for the photos below once you’ve gone through Longtown village.
To reach the Farm:
From the A465 Hereford/Abergavenny Rd, follow signs to Longtown. On arrival in the village – whether coming from the Hereford or Abergavenny direction, follow signs to Craswall and drive through the village. You want the pub/village shop behind you, and you’ll be going gently uphill. It is Longtown by name, Longtown by nature, so if you exit the village very soon you are on the wrong road! (Do not follow the sign to ‘Michealchurch/Hay’). You will eventually pass the castle and the school, in that order.
As the houses begin to thin out, you’ll see a sign on the left saying ‘Turnant, Brass Knoll, Mountain Road’. There is a house right on this corner.

Take this turning, and follow the road for about 500m, down a steep section with a sharp right-hand bend at the bottom. Immediately after this bend, there will be a gate right in front of you. If you reach the river, you’ve gone too far and should turn around.

Go through this gate and the next, and follow the track down to the farm.
Note, the sign on the first gate is a little unclear, it mentions Lower House Farm right at the end.
Please shut the gate on the road behind you, the fields hold livestock.
About the Farm:
Set amongst 70 acres of hills, meadows, orchards and woodland-lined streams, Lower House Farm is a rural Wedding Venue, Events Barn and family farm in the beautiful Black Mountains on the Welsh borders.
At the heart of the farm, our charming 17th Century oak-framed barn has been lovingly restored, a truly special venue for Weddings, Feasts and our regular Sunday Lunch. Nestled in the Olchon valley, and surrounded by the foothills of the Black Mountains, Lower House Farm is a place that you can come to escape the world outside and reconnect with nature.
The produce on our menus is almost all from right here on the farm and the surrounding area, cooked over the open flames of our outdoor, wood-fired kitchen. Grass-fed lamb and beef and free-range pork, all from our native breed animals. We source other ingredients from a range of local and organic producers, which are then prepared respectfully and served generously by our in-house team of chefs.
We are a first generation farming family, and we do things quite differently, farming with nature, slowly and traditionally but with a forward thinking attitude. Our native breed livestock live happily outdoors on our mature rich pasture, with minimal intervention and minimal impact on our environment, allowing for natural ecosystems and other wildlife on the farm to thrive. All of the produce from the farm either goes on our menus or in to Monthly Meat Boxes from the other part of the family business, Wild by Nature Meats.
